February 1, 2012 – Munich/Shanghai – Flensborg and Associates, a Munich-based sales and consulting firm, proudly announce the 7th Break-Bulk Business Run to take place in Shanghai in February 2012, in addition to the expansion of the event circuit to include additional events in April and June 2012. The Business Run combines athletics and networking for professionals in the Heavy Lift and Break-Bulk industries, with visitors and exhibitors from the local Break-Bulk Conference and Exhibition as participants. About 300 runners have participated in previous Business Runs in Antwerp, Houston, Singapore, New Orleans and Munich. The Business Run event circuit is the brainchild of coordinators, Anders and Katrin Flensborg, who lead the consulting firm.

A unique and successful concept, this international event circuit combines networking opportunities and sports for professionals in the transportation and maritime industries with charitable giving. 100% of participant fees are donated to local charities. Events in cities around the world have already generated over $3,500 USD in charitable contributions. Participants also applaud the Break-Bulk Business Runs for combining health and the love of sports with collegiality and good will amongst industry colleagues. “I’ve really enjoyed the Business Run, the new contacts, and friendships, and I hope to have the opportunity to participate again at all future Break-Bulk Conferences and Exhibitions. This would make our lives a bit less stressful,” said Genaro Luevano, Manager of the Mexican Nuevo Laredo terminals.
The upcoming 7th Business Run in Shanghai, part of the regular Business Run event schedule, will kick off at 3pm on February 28th. The event offers a choice of two routes: a 5K for less ambitious runners and a 10K for more athletic participants with the start and finish point at the Sheraton Shanghai Hongqiao Hotel. Clipper and Ceres Barge Lines have signed on as main sponsors of this event. Additional sponsors of the upcoming event in Shanghai, include Albacor Shipping, DP World terminal, Texas terminal, Hughes Marine Firms and Port of Houston.
“Thanks to the dedication of our wonderful event sponsors, we can now offer two additional events in Copenhagen and Shanghai,” said the managing director of Flensborg and Associates Katrin Flensborg. “With the firm support of the Journal of Commerce and the Munich Trade Fair we are excited to announce these new Business Runs for 2012.” The two newly added events kick off in the spring and summer of 2012, beginning with the 8th Business Run EWEA to be held on April 17th in Copenhagen. The BusinessRun then returns to Shanghai for the transport logistics on June 6th and 10th. Sponsors are still being sought for these 2 additional events.
