Munich, March 27th, 2012 Flensborg and Associates, a Munich-based sales and consulting firm, proudly announce the 8th Business Run to take place April 17, 2012 during Europe’s premier wind energy event, the Wind Energy Congress (EWEA) 2012, which takes place from April 16th – 19th in Copenhagen. The Business Run, well-known for combining athletics and networking for professionals in the Heavy Lift and Break-Bulk industries, has expanded its unique and successful concept to include the Wind Energy industry at the invitation of the Danish Wind Industry Association and the European Wind Energy Association EWEA.   The event offers a great opportunity to further develop a strong relationship among the wind energy, shipping, and transportation industries. To commemorate the participation of wind energy industry representatives, the teams of main sponsor SAL Heavy Lift GmbH and co-sponsors Clipper and ITD/FDE are running alongside delegates from the wind energy industry.  More than 100 runners and Nordic walkers are expected to participate. More than 350 runners have participated in previous Business Runs in Antwerp, Houston, Singapore, New Orleans, Munich and Shanghai.  The Business Run event circuit is the brainchild of coordinators, Anders and Katrin Flensborg, who lead the Flensborg and Associates consulting firm.

The starting shot for the 8th Business Run will be fired by Niels Laulund at 7:00 am sharp on April 17th at Kvaesthusbroen in the City Port of Copenhagen.  The event offers a choice of two different routes: a 5K for less ambitious runners and a 10K for more athletic participants. Participants preferring a Nordic walking style are also very welcome to participate. The route for this 8th Business Run leads runners around the city of Copenhagen and a number of attractive sights. The start and finish point is at Kvaesthusbroen in the City Port of the Danish capital. Refreshments are offered after the run, along with networking and discussion opportunities with organizers, sponsors, and co-runners. “In this challenging climate we are curious to see whether the Wind Energy Industry will join us for serious leg-work or if they prefer to wait for the right weather conditions” said Lars Rolner, CEO of the SAL Heavy Lift GmbH in Steinkirchen. “We are excited that our Wind Energy partners are on board for this event.”
A unique and successful concept, this international event circuit combines networking opportunities and sports for professionals in the transportation, maritime, and wind industries with charitable giving.  100% of participant fees are donated to local charities.  Events in cities around the world have already generated over $6,500 USD in charitable contributions.  Participants also applaud the Business Runs for combining health and the love of sports with collegiality and good will amongst industry colleagues. Like in previous Business Runs, this event will raise funds for a charity, donating 100% of participation fees.  The complete participation fee (EUR €25 per runner) will be donated to Renewable World www.renewable-world.org, a foundation working with local partners in Africa, Asia and Central America to bring renewable energy sources (solar, wind, hydro and biogas plants) to small villages and communities not connected to power supply systems.
The participation fee is an affordable EUR €25 (35 USD).
